After finishing his degree in 1988 and having completed his postgraduate training, he developed his professional career as lawyer in Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo (formerly known as Melchor de las Heras) and as Director of KPMG Abogados. He then went on to found Goñi y Cajigas Abogados in 2006, now integrated in BMC&A.
He has taken part as lawyer in numerous privatization procedures, acquisitions and sales of companies, as well as in financing projects of Spanish investments abroad.
He has managed and coordinated numerous due diligences procedures before the acquisition and restructuring of group of companies of a wide range of economic sectors.
He has a broad expertise in the preparation, drafting and negotiation of whatever contract and agreement, in negotiation with local authorities and authorities of the Autonomous Regions regarding procedures of incorporating and starting up industries in Spain, as well as in judicial and out of court dispute resolutions, specially in breach of contracts.
José Manuel teaches various courses and seminars in several educational and training institution. Professor of Joint-Ventures in the Master en Abogacía Internacional (International Law Practice) at ISDE.
